( I D E N T I T Y )

Name | Espe (es-PAY) Basque for “Hope”
Kit Name | Squirrel / Chimpmunk
It wasn’t just difficult for everyone the twins met as kits to tell them apart, even their own parents struggled with telling who was who. This made giving them a kit name extremely difficult, so their parents named them after local creatures that closely resembled their fur color and personality. The higher energy and rambunctious Espe was named Squirrel and the skittish Sorne was named Chipmunk.

Appearance | [ Height | Weight | Breed | General Appearance | Disabilities and Scars | Accessories | Scent ]

Height: 9.5 inches

Weight : 6.5 lbs

Breed : Somali (50%) x Abyssinian (25%) x Tennessee Rex (25%)

General Appearance :
Fur: Epse’s fur is where most of her Somali and Tennessee Rex genes can be seen. As a kit, her fur was incredibly curly like most Tennessee Rex kittens. As she’s grown older, it has begun to grow straighter and lose its kitten like curl. There are still some waves here and there in the thicker parts of her pelt. Also like the Tennessee Rex, Espe’s fur as a genetic mutation seen in the breed that causes her fur to give off a metallic like shimmer in the light. As far as her Somali genetics go, Espe has a generally sleek and short coat, though there are parts that have more fur on them than the rest of her body. Namely these places are her tail, head and cheeks.
Body Type: Her body structure and frame is where the Abyssinian genetics come into play. Espe has a foreign body style, with an overall lean and thin frame. She possesses little body fat and the bulk of her muscle is lean generally concentrated in her shoulders and thighs. Epse is better at aerobic activity that requires large bursts of energy for a very short period of time like sprinting as opposed to endurance based activity.
Coloration: Espe’s base color is a dark cinnamon, almost reddish color. She has a light tan color on her chest, underbelly, bottom half of her face and bottom of her tail. She possess an even lighter tan-almost white- on her muzzle, ear tips, under tail and chest. Espe’s fur also consists of a darker cinnamon color on her ears, headfur, back and shoulders and top of her tail. One of Espe’s most noticeable features though are her dark stripes on her tail, back and ears the small “mole” near her left eye and how the tan and base color create a diamond shape on the bridge of her nose. Her tail tip and eyelids are also the same color as her stripes. One of the other key features she has are how all her legs are colored differently than the others. Some having stripes while others don’t and so on and so forth.
Eyes: Espe’s eyes are one of the only differences between her and her sister. While her twin sports eyes of a light blue hue Espe’s eyes changed to a light green color after they opened. Her eyes are a soft almond shape that is commonly seen in cats with a foreign body style. They are bright and lively, filled with youth and a love for adventure that if often lost in some adults.
Disabilities and Scars : N/A

Accessories : Small silver bracelet on her front left paw. In the middle of the bracelet there is a small Peridot that closely matches the color of her eyes. This was a gift from her father to not only keep her close to her twin, but to distinguish her from her sister as well.

Scent : Cherry wood and mixed berries

Attitude |  [ Adventurous | Fearless | Intelligent | Cunning| Impulsive | Indiscrete Talker | Perceptive]

Adventurous :

Since she was born, Espe has always had a for discovering and finding things that no one else in this world has ever even imagined. To her, the world is undiscovered, and it is her job to discover it. She’s had this philosophy since she was a kit. Espe would often sneak away and wander aimlessly around the area she was born in and just stare in awe at how big and beautiful everything around her was. She never went far, but it was just enough to spark a love for the mysteries of the world around her. Into her adolescence this trait only grew stronger as she exploded deeper into the land around her home, often dragging her sister or father onto these small expeditions with her or whoever she could beg into going with her. Even when she came back to her den, all she wanted to do was get out again and find something else new. It could be said it was kind of an addiction as she started thinking for herself more. So when there was news that more exiled cats were going into new lands and making a new life for themselves, Espe was undoubtedly interested in this trek. Her addiction for adventure has lightened some, but it still one her most prominent traits and her love for discovery is something that will not die anytime soon.

Fearless :

Aside from a couple of phobias. Espe is truly a cat that can look eminent danger in the face and laugh at it as jumps straight into it. She’s not afraid to die to get hurt. If anything, she is more afraid to do nothing. This ginger cat is more than content to take on a task that no one else will, even it puts her health and wellbeing in danger. Like adventuring, doing thing that are dangerous and stomach flipping gives he a adrenaline rush that she feeds off of and loves. There is deemed “Too dangerous and challenging” for her she’ll see it more as a challenge than a warning. Her fearless and sometimes reckless nature can get Espe into some serious trouble sometimes, but it truly something she plans not to grow out off or try to fix as long as she is still well enough to continue to do the dangerous and never been done before. Espe will often try to drag other cats into her daring antics, whether they know what they are getting into or not.

Intelligent :

This trait is shared by her sister and one of the main traits that made their careers in conning so successful. They were raised to have some knowledge and intelligence to back them up on whatever they did. Their father (Dallas) taught the twins many things about the world around them and he taught them to have a curiosity and drive to keep learning. He taught them everything he knew from how to identify if something is poisonous to how to distinguish different species of birds. To Dallas, his daughters wouldn’t be just “pretty” like Cassili wanted, they would be pretty smart. And he succeed with that. Both of his daughters grew to be smart due to his daily lessons and teaching. It was also because of intelligence that the twins, especially Espe, learned how to smart talk her way into getting what she wanted. Espe has taken many of the things she learned from her father’s lessons and from her own research of the world around her and she applies them to her daily life to “make it less complicated” and to also keep her one step ahead of those she’s cheated and anyone else that doesn’t have the knowledge that she does.

Cunning :

This trait was developed during Espe’s career as a con artist. She noticed from an early age that she and her sister have a gift of persuasion and sweet-talking other cats. With Espe’s manipulative and daring mentality, she quickly turned this gift into a way of talking others into giving her what she wants. Whether it is food or herbs, there was almost never a time that Espe couldn’t talk and flatter her way into getting something. She’s learned how to appeal to most everyone and quickly get them wrapped around her finger. From being a cat’s new best friend to batting her lashes and flattering and flirting it up with a with another cat, she knows how to lie and think on her toes when it comes to other individuals. This has given her a great mysterious impression and for many cats, it builds somewhat of a desire to get to know who this new character is and what miss Espe is like. After moving back the tribes, she vowed not con anyone again, but she’ll still exercise this cunning charm at few and far between times on either an unsuspecting victim or a cat she feels would take it light heartedly.

Impulsive :

Despite being intelligent and manipulative, Espe has always been the sister to jump blindly into danger or into a task without thinking it through first. This has landed her into some serious trouble before, but it hasn’t made her change the way she thinks. Even as a full-fledged adult she still does things without thinking about the repercussions first. If anything it has only evolved as she has gotten older. She now jumps into thinks even faster and many of the things she’ll do are based on emotions rather than logic and the possible dangers. But like many of the things Espe does, she enjoys the rush of jumping headfirst into possible danger and refuses to change this about herself because she believes in an event of emergency, she’ll be the hero because she didn’t wait back and contemplate the consequences and if she wasn’t as impulsive as she was, life wouldn’t be as much fun.

Indiscrete Talker :

This trait basically means that Espe is quite the gossip. Since she was young, she has always talked about other cats behind their backs to her sister. This is another part of her personality that she has dragged other cats into, mainly Sorne. This trait has caused her to catch quite a bit of hell because of the rumors and assumes and makes up and just the general things she has to say about other cats. Her gossiping habits did take the back burner to her cheating for a while. But it has always been a trait that has stuck with her. Very rarely does Espe have nice things to say about a cat, and she would never tell them to the cat she’s talking about, only to those she truly trusts to never tell anyone else. For her entire life up to this point it has been her sister. Since she gave up lying and conning to lead a new life in the tribes, her gossip habits have begun to show again, though they are less frequent and Espe is a lot more careful about what she says to her sister and any friends because there are ears everywhere and she just can’t pick up and leave when she suspects other are catching onto what she is doing and saying.

Perceptive :

This one of the other traits that Espe developed during her time as a con artist. She quickly learned how to read the personalities and body languages of other cats long before she even began to talk to them. With her increasing ability to read others, she found out who would be easier to cheat and who had something to hide. Though she has lightened up on many of her prominent personality traits she had during her days of conning, this is one of the few that she never let go of when she left her high risk lifestyle behind. With her ability to read others and learn about them without associating with them, she’s found who would be worth talking to or and who isn’t Who’s the cat that loves to run and get into trouble. Espe finds this trait of hers a talent more than anything else. She enjoys sitting back and watching others and taking guesses at what they are like and what they have to hide from the rest of their tribe mates.

Backstory | ( Prologue | Kithood | Adolescence | Adulthood )

Prologue :

It was just like any other love story. Boy meets girl, boy and girl fall in love and start a life and family together. They wouldn’t live happily ever after though. Little did the boy and anyone know that this love was based on prejudice and a hate for anything that the girl found inferior. The girl in this story, was a beautiful exiled Somali with a Shadow-Tribe tattoo on her maw. Her name was Cassili, born an exiled cat; she was and raised by her birth parents, a couple that was formerly of Shadow-Tribe. Her mother, Pinsre and father, Julen raised their only kit believe that nothing would ever be better than the greatness that was Shadow-Tribe. Everything else was inferior. This mentality would take a great toll on the future of Cassili’s family.

The boy in this story was a handsome half Abyssinian, half Tennessee Rex tom with a gray Shadow-Tribe tattoo in his maw as well. His name was Dallas. Dallas was easy going, carefree and probably one of the biggest softies anyone could meet. He was raised to love and to give more than he got by his Orange-Air mother, Sueri and his Green-Earth father, Chayton. Dallas was everything and Cassili had dreamed of in a tom. He was strong, brave, easy to get along with and above all, he had a Shadow-Tribe tattoo. Cassili has been courted by many suitors after she left the safety of her oppressive parents, but all of them were inferior because of the tattoos they possessed. The only kind of tom that would begin to grab her attention was one with a tattoo like hers. Getting Dallas interested in her wasn’t a hard task at all and it wasn’t long before he was infatuated with this ginger beauty. Dallas had no idea what he was getting into, he just knew he found a cat he liked, and he wanted them to be more, a fault in his kind heart.

After a few seasons, Dallas professed their love for Casilli and she did the same and it wasn’t too much longer after that when Cassili found herself pregnant with Dallas’s kits. The couple was ecstatic, but each  for different reasons. Dallas was overjoyed that he’d have a family to call his own and protect. He wanted to be the perfect father and it was finally going to happen. Cassili on the other hand thought that because her parents were both blessed by the Shadow Spirit and gave birth to a kit that was blessed by that as well, that this litter she carried in her must be blessed by the Shadow Spirit as well.

Kithood :

When Cassili and Dallas finally greeted their daughters as they tumbled into the world, they were met with the shock of two identical bundles of fur; an unexpected and worrying sight, completely frightening the mother of the pair, whereas their father was only delighted. The Spirits had blessed them with a unique surprise, and he planned to take it all in swing, cleaning up his daughters while murmuring sweet nothings about their beauty in their deaf little ears. Cassili only questioned how they would tell them apart, and if they'd ever manage to grow into their own personalities while looking exactly the same. How would they even name them? And how would they know which was which, with their eyes closed and their markings so tiny that it was impossible to see if there were any differences between the kits at all? Dallas held steadfast to his approval of his daughters, however, and after a long internal debate of how they would name them, indeed, Dallas chose to be slightly practical. Two small animals, the prey that the Spirits had given them even when their tattoos were born of no color, would be perfect for the two little kits to be of namesake. Russet little things, in most cases, with two differing personalities that would pave the way for their daughters, positive and pleasant, in their own way. With his body curled around his kits' and his mate's, Dallas informed the latter that their daughters would be named Squirrel and Chipmunk, ignoring his lover's upturned lip of disapproval. Cassili, herself, wasn't offering any better names to the table, so those would have to do. The more active their eldest daughter was Squirrel, like the hyperactive and jittery creature itself.

As far as either Dallas or Cassili knew, as the days with their new kits wore on, the one that fed the harshest from their mother's belly was sometimes Chipmunk and sometimes Squirrel. It wasn't until their eyes opened that they began to have their own identities. The first one to greet the blurry colors and shapes of the world was thereby dubbed their first-born, as she seemed to be the strongest and the loudest mewling, with bright green eyes that took one look up at her father the first day they opened and wailed bloody murder into the night, only silencing when her little teeth found their mother's belly again or when she was asleep. Their youngest daughter didn't open her eyes until the very next day, and both Dallas and Cassili held strong concern that her eyes would be just as forest-green as her sister's, but, upon greeting her mother with a stare, the quieter of the two kits presented blue orbs to the world that caused their parents to breathe a sigh of relief neither of them even knew they were holding.

Following the opening of their eyes, 'Squirrel' and 'Chipmunk' had a rather uneventful kithood, with the only hiccups happening in the mixing-up of their names, while the she-kits grew to learn to walk and speak and play. Dallas had taken to watching their personalities bloom- the green-eyed twin seemed to be the more outgoing and bolder of the two, while the blue-eyed one a little quieter, more content with following in her sister's shadow and letting her lead the games while she followed. Because of this, Dallas began distinguishing their eldest as Squirrel and their youngest as Chipmunk, while Cassili could care less and just called whichever whatever name popped into her mind first. This often causing their eldest daughter to mewl in defiance and with as much anger as her small body could give to her mother for mixing her up with her sister. Most of the girls' early life, after growing old enough to stop relying on their mother for food and able to walk around on their own, consisted of following their father around or sticking near to him as they wrestled and pounced on each other. Squirrel was without a doubt a daddy’s girl and stuck close to her loving father all moment of the waking day and the best days to Squirrel were always the days when Dallas took them out of the nest to explore. The threesome never traveled far from their nest, and their parents never found need to travel far from their home at all, relaxed in the comfort of the high rocks and solitude that it offered. Occasionally, Cassili would mention around their daughters that she wanted a change of scenery, but Dallas insisted that it was a better place for them to stay and thus they stayed there, with their daughters growing stronger daily, without the Tribe competition for food and safety. To Squirrel, life was simple and full of bliss. Ever turned over stone and falling leaf was a new adventure to her. The only other cats she knew her life up this point were her discontented mother, loving and proud father and skittish but adored sister. And she never could have asked for more. She loved where she lived and loved her family even more, despite the rising tensions in the parental units of their little family.

Throughout out the course of their mid kit hood, Squirrel would often make messes that Chipmunk, who would rarely ever speak against her sister at that time, was blamed for. This could have been from straying just a bit too far away from the nest to accidently hurting each other in a new game that Squirrel made up that day. Squirrel, being the conniving young trickster she was would try to pass every fault on Chipmunk or pose as Chipmunk and blame ‘Squirrel’ for hurting her. Dallas never bought the tricks and kittenish lies and instead parented them with just soft cuffs to the ear and a warning frown. This was how it would be until they began to grow nearer to their sixth moon, with Squirrel leading in chaos and games and Chipmunk following behind dutifully. Squirrels love for adventure and hell raising began to become more prominent during these moons and these behaviors and habits would pave the way to her personality that would stick with her up until adulthood.

As the kits got older and spent more time with Dallas, Cassili began to grow distant, rarely ever moving out of the den during the day to play with her mate or kits, instead preferring to be alone, until it was time to sleep. On the night of Squirrel and Chipmunk's sixth moon, the pair were awoken by a harsh scuffle that sent them both tumbling from their nest, their mother having gotten up and shoving them away, their blue and green orbs looking up to meet hers, which shown down on them in shock and distrust. The jagged grey lines that shown across both her maw and Dallas' in a harsh grin that they'd grown used to, and never really asked about before, now seemed to form in a scowl down at them, Cassili's flashing eyes seeking out her mate's. They were frightened, Squirrel and Chipmunk, and as they scurried back to their nest they watched with round, frightened eyes as their mother and father argued, throwing around words that they hadn't ever heard used so fiercely before. There had been murmurs of 'Tribes' and 'gifts', 'blessings' and 'Spirits', but the twins didn't know much about them, besides the fact that their father insisted they thank the stars every night for their quiet lives. Now, the two older cats were stuck in a harsh battle of words, screaming about 'Shadow-Tribe' and 'Fire-Tribe', and how their daughters had been ruined. Tears were brimming in the kittens' eyes as their mother shook her head fiercely with promise to leave, that they had taken over Dallas' time and there was no more room for her, and that it was time for her to move on and find something else, especially now with 'Enemy' Tribers among them. Their father, exhausted from the arguing, only asked her to stay weakly, before watching with his daughters as Cassili disappeared into the night. She didn't return that morning, or the morning after that. The shock was a lot for the kits and Squirrel took it harshly, refusing to play or eat the next day. She, like her mother, sat in the den and stared at the entrance all night waiting for the silhouette of her mother come up over the hill. he hated herself and she didn’t know why. She didn’t know why her mother was mad or what she saw on them that made her so mad. She just knew she made her mother mad and made her leave. The following evening, before the sun set so there was no light, their father took them to the nearby stream and showed them their twin reflections, now with grey markings of their own, that burned across their eyes, claiming them to Fire-Tribe. To Squirrel, it seemed odd to have these flames over her eye. It wasn’t like the black and grey smiles she grew up seeing. She understood this was the reason that their mother left, but she didn’t understand why. It was just a marking, and to the young kit, a pretty cool one at that. She was just happy that Chipmunk was also given this odd marking and that Dallas was still with them. That’s all Squirrel needed and by the next day, she was normal again, playing and eating and laughing with her reduced family.

Adolescence :

Despite the situation being done and over with and despite that the kits were acting normal again, Dallas spent many weeks being bombarded by Squirrel and Chipmunk about where their mother went. The only knowledge they had was watching their mother walk away into the night and not coming back, and to Squirrel at least, that was the last incredibly burning memory she had of Cassili. The kind tom didn’t have the heart to tell them she wasn’t coming back ever because of a thing that his daughters had no control over. He just covered it up with a simple, “Mommy’s going on an adventure, and she’ll be back someday.” It was enough to entertain the young minds, but it would never replace the void their lack of a mother would leave in their lives. Squirrel nodded off the words her father told her, but kept telling herself in the back of her mind that it was a lie. Mommy wasn’t going to come back and she never would either. She and Chipmunk were motherless and a third empty inside. Dallas, being the caring and devoted father that he was did everything he could be the best father that they so greatly needed now. The twin girls knew that their family wasn’t quite like a normal family most other kits had. One with a loving mother and a strong father, but this was enough for Squirrel and Chipmunk, and they spent the next six months of their lives believing this is what a normal family was like. And not once were they even concerned about the tattoos that they had, since their father offered nothing but praise and good words to the grey rings around their eyes. Squirrel invented new games to play with Chipmunk. Games where they pretended to battle with fire as one of the few words she remembered the night her mother walked out was "fire" and assumed something about that had something to do with fire. Squirrel had no idea what, but it just sounded so cool and as far as she was concerned, she and Chipmunk were the living embodiment of fire itself. . Throughout it all though, the girls looked up to their father with endless pride that he still loved them even when their mother didn’t and they truly idolized him as their hero. They promised that someday they would be just like their father and be as nice and caring and as strong as he was.

With the passing months, the kits grew larger and more rambunctious, often getting themselves into more trouble with their gossiping and adventuring. Squirrel, as always, was the ring leader in these fiascos and as always, tried to put the blame on Chipmunk because some things never change. The rumors they spread often got them into trouble and the uncountable number of times they wandered too far aware and got lost or stumbled into another cats’ territory surely put them into more trouble than anything else they had done before that time. They were certainly starting to become more of a handful and a headache for their father though he was still kind, his discipline was fair and there was always a life lesson in store for the young twins. The lectures and the punishments never mattered to Squirrel. She’d simply shake them off and do get right back to what she was doing to get herself in trouble in the first place, and with her partner in crime, dearest sister Chipmunk. Around this time of their lives, Squirrel and Chipmunk had finally given up on the hope of their mother coming back anytime soon and they just simply pushed her out of their hearts and spent their love on Dallas and each other. But another love was soon about to present itself as a talent the twins shared and Squirrel discovered.

Near their twelfth moon, Squirrel and Chipmunk found that they had a knack for sweet talking, and learned that they could use these speaking and persuasion skills to get what they wanted from other cats. It all started with getting an exiled tom to give them his prey for Chipmunk’s “Sick and dying family.” With this new skill of being class A con artists, the twins found themselves getting into even more trouble than they did gossiping about other cats or getting lost in the woods. Squirrel always being the ring leader of these increasing cons and scams, and Chipmunk always being the ever loyal lackey. They received a stern consequence of not being able to leave the nest for several days from their father, but there was something about conning that he twins agreed was great and satisfying and there was no way that Squirrel was going to live without perfecting her newfound talent with her siter. They enjoyed not having to work as hard and basically getting others to hunt or point out the best place to get food from. They weren’t lazy for sure, but they just fed off the rush of adrenaline that successfully conning another gave them. Dallas’s increased and more frequent punishments couldn’t curve their desire to scam and con passerby’s and other exiles. In the area they resided in, they were known by name to be con artists and pf all the cats they conned out of food and other items no one felt more scammed than their own father. Though he knew and had punished them for several of their con acts, there were many more that word of mouth circulated that Dallas had no knowledge of. For the first time in their lives, he was furious at his daughters for having not only continued their careers in lying and cheating off others, but lying to him more than anyone. This was the final straw for Dallas which erupted into a family feud, mainly between Dallas and Squirrel, whom had lead and plotted most of the con acts. Squirrel refused to give up this talent, and got her little sister to agree, though the bulk of the fight was between their father and eldest daughter. The fight was loud, tiring, but Squirrel was set on not giving into her father and the dispute wandered into the late hours of the evening before Dallas finally gave in with and put his paw down.

With this final dispute, Dallas settled on the fact that his precious girls were too much for him to handle anymore and at the age of twelve moons, he gave them full freedom. Squirrel who craved adventure quickly left and her unassuming sister quickly followed behind. They planned on starting a new life with each other. They wouldn’t worry about their mother, or father or any other cat on these lands. They were there for each other and as far as they were concerned, that’s how it was stay. The twins never stayed in one place for very long. They would find a nest to settle down in, con the cats in the area and as soon as word started getting around about them, they’d leave and start the cycle over again. Settle, con and leave and this cycle repeated itself for several months until right about the twins’ eighteenth moon.

While getting ready to do their last con for the area they were temporarily in, the two she-cats to be cheated told Chipmunk about a land they were just getting back from. These strangers (A gray color pointed she-cat with a black Light-Tribe tattoo and going by the name of Kalian and the other a pale ginger spotted she-cat with a black Earth-Tribe tattoo going by the name of Copper)  described the land of tribes and powers and tattoos and memories of the night Chipmunk’s mother walked out flooded back to her. It all sounded so familiar. Without even completing the task, the blue-eyed sister quickly told her sister about it all and both of them contemplated the idea of living with other cats. They weighed out the pros and cons of it. Living with others would be nice, there’s always a meal, but there would be no conning in a tribe. Squirrel was beginning to lean against the idea of making the trek to these mysterious lands, despite her love for adventure. That was until her sister brought up a great point. For the past six moons they travel through many places in these exiled lands. They scammed a countless number of cats many knew what they looked like and knew their names. They were pretty much wanted criminals and there were more than enough cats that would have wanted them dead and gone. The high risk lifestyle was dangerous and this new life in these “Tribes” Could keep them safe. This point was enough to get Squirrel to change her mind that night, they set off South towards these blessed lands.

Adulthood :

Upon their arrival to the boarder of these new lands, Squirrel could hardly contain her excitement. They were finally going to be able to start over and lead a new life. No long would she and her sister have to look over their shoulder in case one of their victims came back at them for revenge. There was still a bit of fear that perhaps one of the cats they conned too joined the tribes, but it couldn’t compare to the feeling she had about joining these tribes. She knew she was going to long for her life of cheating and dearly miss her father, but that still couldn’t compare to her excitement. Before long they were with a Fire-Tribe patrol and taken to meet the leader of this “Fire-Tribe”
When the twins entered the camp relief flooded over Squirrel. There was no one she had scammed her, making this experience a truly new start for the twins. The Sprit’s accepted the two of them and their grey rings of tattoos glowed a bright and vibrant orange and they receive the true names that the only heard about in stories. Squirrel’s dearest sister was now Sorne and Squirrel received the name of Espe Their lives are new and they are determined to live like they are new in the lands of the tribes.

Roleplay Availability | [ Notes | Skype | Chats | Forum | Comments ]

Notes | I’m down for notes! Just shoot me a note and we can figure something out

Skype | This is my preferred method for RPs just ask me for my name and I’ll get it to you and we can get something figured out!

Chats | I’m a pretty bust person so I tend to have to get up and leave a lot. I’ll do a chat RP, but they need to be in short posts or in script.

Forum | I hate forum. Just no

Comments | Ehh, I’d just rather not
